My other option for the project is a Medeski, Martin & Wood album, entitled 'The Dropper'. A first sketch is seen below. On another note, if you are a jazz enthusiast and have never listened to any Medeski..I urge you to check them out. Incredible band. More of a tribe than a band, really.

I would say look up some surrealism like Dali. It looks like you're grabbin' some influences from that style of art...and it would be awesome to see it in graphic design form. :)
